Quick Releases 

In 1979 Charlie designed and built the first machined aluminum cam style quick releases for the seatposts and wheels on his personal bikes. This light, smooth acting quick release design was adopted almost universally on road bikes and mountain bikes. It replaced the heavy steel quick release that was used on road wheels from the days of Tulio Campagnolo.
